Be the parent you want to be.

At Home

It's 5 am and you've been singing 'The Wheels On The Bus' for the last hour. Glued to your hip, your delightful insomniac toddler demands yet another rendition of his favourite song. Your partner is lightly snoring next door. The love of your life has become a subject of hate - after all they're still asleep! You can't remember the last time you felt sexy and all your clothes are covered in little white splodges that even the most biological of powders won't shift.  At least it's only an hour until 'In The Night Garden' comes on...and only another fourteen until bedtime.

At Work

She switches on her computer, applies her lipstick and answers the phone on automatic pilot.  She is elated. She arrived at work on time today. Her son only cried for twenty minutes before she unwound him from her neck and she has washed and blow dried her hair. She feels guilty about leaving her son, and even more guilty about how good it feels not to face another nappy until this evening. She knows her boss is watching her. She wonders how long she can keep this up.
Her boss is watching her. He could happily throttle the colleague who has just pointed out the baby sick on her jacket. He knows she's exhausted and he knows she's great at her job. He's wondering how on earth he'll prevent a valued colleague from leaving.

At School

It's the fourth time you've met the family of this Year 10 student since the start of term. His attendance is declining rapidly and so are his results. He has an answer for everything, and what he says is witty, intelligent and engaging. If he'd only stop making everyone laugh he'd be fulfilling huge potential. His parents are critical of the school and want things to be better. Nothing you've put in place seems to be having an impact, and he isn't the slightest bit concerned. He makes you smile despite yourself and yet you are deeply worried about where this is going.
